Sometimes ghosts simply can’t find peace and stay trapped between worlds. This is another case of a ghost which was spotted on a CCTV (closed-circuit television camera). This happened at the Ye Olde Man and Scythe in Bolton in the United Kingdom.
This unusual place has been haunted by spirits for years according to reports. Hundreds of soldiers and civilians were also killed outside the pub back in the Bolton Massacre of 1644.
The staff was surprised to see this footage, as they seem to have captured an actual image of what appears to be some sort of ghostly spirit, standing at the doorway entrance to the bar. It is a highly supernatural area of activity; there have been reports of people seeing things late at night while wandering by the pub.
This event happened late at night and mysteriously the video stopped recording at 6.18am
Manager Tony Dooley spotted the spooky ghost spirit on Friday morning after checking the video and to his surprise he was baffled at what he found.
“I came down and saw a glass smashed on the floor so, I was instantly suspicious and went to check the CCTV and found it has stopped working,” he told the Manchester Evening News.”
“We checked the footage and it revealed this figure”.
“To be honest I was a bit concerned – I’m a bit of a skeptic when it comes to ghosts, but you become more of a believer when you see things like that.”
“There have always been rumors it is haunted and we’ve had psychic readings done here in the past,” said Tony.
“Occasionally you hear things and wonder if it’s just the building settling down or whether it’s something else”.
The pub itself is quite old as it has been around since 1251; this makes it the fourth oldest pub in Britain.
It is also believed that this pub is haunted by the Seventh Earl of Derby, James Stanley. It seems rather discomforting to work in such a place, where so much supernatural activity is around, yet the staff seems not bothered by it overall.
The royalist, whose family originally owned the inn, is said to have spent the last hours of his life there before he was beheaded in 1651 towards the end of the Civil War.
A psychic event was held there back in 2006, it was reported that at least 25 different spirits are still lurking the pub, perhaps they are thirsty for another drink.
