Colton with family

This is a remarkable story from a young boy who claims to have caught a glimpse of heaven. The video piece was well done explaining what happened. It begs to ask questions about what is real and what is not. At the time of the event, this child was only four years old. He claimed to have experienced moments in heaven, around those who love and care about him. There are several relatives he never had a chance to meet in life – but did while in the afterlife.

Colton Burpo is the son of a small town Nebraska pastor who during emergency surgery slipped from consciousness. Young Colton Burpo awoke from his surgery and afterwards relayed incredible details and encounters to his father and mother including meeting the Virgin Mary, John the Baptist and even Jesus. All of these divine beings seemed to radiate a kind smile towards him.

The thing which sets this story apart was the near death experience and knowledge of things it was impossible for him to know about at his age. One of the interesting things, was him recognizing a picture of his great-grandfather, only he had never met him before as he died 30 years before he was even born. Another incredible thing was mentioned about his miscarried sister who died before being born. She kept hugging him while he was there in heaven, and he admits he isn’t a “hugging person”.

This bizarre yet supernatural story inspired a movie titled “Heaven Is for Real” starring Greg Kinnear, Kelly Reilly and Thomas Haden Church. It did quite well on screen during its initial USA release. Colton is now fourteen years old and continues to remember his experience stating everything he said then and now is the truth. “It’s not fiction at all,” he said. “This is real and I want people to know that and be given hope.”

A book was released about him titled: “Heaven is for Real for Kids: A Little Boy’s Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back”. This rather interesting encounter about him entering heaven has stirred controversy and inspired others to greater things.

He describes the horse that only Jesus could ride, about how “reaaally big” God and his chair are, and how the Holy Spirit “shoots down power” from heaven to help us. Colton’s message is that heaven is a real place, Jesus really loves children, and be ready, there is a coming last battle. These shared impossible-to-know details are rather interesting. Keeping an open mind about it, perhaps this child speaks the truth. It is something we can all hope for in the afterlife.
