This is an age old question that has sprouted many theories for us to ponder. If these thoughts are not ours then whose are they? I begin this article with the sole intention of sharing what rings true to me and hope that you can gain some idea of where you stand on the subject by reading it.
Like so many, my experience with the way that thoughts come to pass is spontaneous, random, and often living a life of their own. Out of nowhere thoughts enter my mind. Some stick around for a bit and others just pass on through, but where do they actually come from? Is it possible for something to come from nothing?
In order for me to really attempt to understand the origins of my own thoughts, I had to begin at the beginning of the process and look at this subject from a different angle and perspective. I began thinking about the role I play when having a random thought pop in or seemingly creating one. Both ways of being introduced to thoughts provided me with a completely different experience. The thought that comes in randomly made me feel more like an antenna; that was receiving certain frequencies from the energy in the ether. The thoughts that I actively participated in made me feel more like the originator.
If I was in fact tuning in, so to speak, to frequencies from energy alone, does that mean that the energy I carry around within me have anything to do with the thoughts I have? Does that also mean that by simply being aware of this energy; I've granted myself access to universal knowledge that I wouldn't have had permission to enter if I remained unaware of it when playing the part of originating a thought or idea?
Simply by having these new questions promoted feelings of unity that I'd never experienced before. The kind of expansion I've received just by looking at where thoughts come from led me to a bridge that I believe unites all beings. I've stumbled upon a current of energy I never knew existed which I can feel when I attempt to silence my thoughts long enough to be introduced to it. The more that I practice getting acquainted to this energy; the more I feel exposed to the belief that this energy is consciousness. Consciousness is metaphysical and resides everywhere, in everything, as all of us. I believe we have the power to create our physical experience through the thoughts we think and these thoughts play a huge part of the grand design. The trick is being mindful that we are consciousness and will need to consciously choose our thoughts wisely, discarding the ones that do not serve us. By doing this we can shape our experience here in the physical world instead of being a pawn of it. This is the good work and in my opinion part of why we are here. Let us create and know that we are all in this together.
